Why I Love Oil Pulling

Ever since my last dentist appointment, I have been determined to find some natural remedies to help my mouth/teeth. I have been using Doterras oils for about a year now and I love them. I went home and searched to see if any oils may be able to help.  As I was looking online, I came across several articles about oil pulling. It sounded so interesting, so I started researching it more. I was amazed at all the positive feedback people had from it. I found so many testimonials online from people who experienced benefits from oil pulling.  A few examples were improvement in asthma, skin conditions, diseases, arthritis, kidney problems, liver problems, heart conditions, gum and teeth issues, and many more. Just thinking about how bacteria in the mouth gets into the blood stream alone, made me want to try this. After reading all that, how could I not try it? And it’s something that is so simple too.

Since then I have been doing it religiously now every morning, and I love it. My favorite oil to use is coconut. I usually do this first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. I use about 1 tablespoon and I also add in some oregano and clove oil. But you can just do plain coconut oil, or the oil of your choice. (I like to make sure the coconut oil is in liquid form before starting). All you do is pull/swish it around your mouth. I do this for 20 minutes, but you can do it less if you need to. I have heard quite a few people say that they gag a little at first from this, so you can start out less and work your way up. Don’t give up if that happens at first, it gets easier after several times of doing it. In just under 4 months I have noticed a huge change in my oral health. I also went for a check up last week at the dentist and had such a huge difference in my gums and teeth since my last appointment. Not only that, but my teeth always feel so much cleaner, and it has also whitened them. I just love when you can find healthier, natural remedies. I am loving oil pulling and will definitely keep doing this for a long time. Here’s a great article about oil pulling if you want to learn more: http://authoritynutrition.com/oil-pulling-coconut-oil
